First full time week for some of our children at Barlow Bears on PhotoPeach
We had a lovely second week in Reception! We visited our local Co-op supermarket in search of the Evil Pea and healthy foods. We looked for both healthy and unhealthy foods and discussed the differences between each. We also took £1 with us and took our time (!) carefully choosing either vegetables or fruit to take back with us to the classroom.
In maths we made 10 using two different number shapes, while in ICT we painted our favourite characters from our topic book ‘Supertato’. In dance we acted being superheroes and learnt a wonderful superhero dance! In music we learnt how to drum on the top of upturned buckets. There has been lots of writing this week, writing the initial sounds of vegetables and trying to write the sounds we can hear in the words. And we’ve started our guided reading and phonic sessions! What a busy week! We can’t wait for next week and our special Autumn walk!

We would like to say a big well done to all the Nursery children for settling in so well over the last week. Two of our children have already had a full year with us, some have had lots of previous experience of attending Nursery, day care, and play groups but for some children this has been the first time ever that they have been parted from their Mums, Dads and carers and are still in their transition to Nursery ! Either way, it’s a very big step and we have been delighted with how well the children have done. Sometimes saying goodbye at the Nursery door can be as hard for parents as it is for children, so well done Mums, Dads, carers and Grandparents !
We hope you like the first slideshow that we have put on our shared blog. Some children feature a lot, whereas others hardly at all but please remember that some children have been with us for almost a week, others have been with us for just a few hours and some children are yet to start!
Over the coming months we will be taking photographs of ALL the children and we will be sharing these pictures on our blog for those for whom we have parental permission slips.
Please feel free to leave us comments and watch the slideshows with your children so they can talk about what they have been doing in Nursery ! Each comment needs to be moderated so please wait for us to read and accept your comments.
Miss Reece will usually update the blog each Wednesday or Thursday, so don’t forget to keep checking back for regular updates.
Thanks from all the Nursery team,
Carol Reece, Leonnie Sawyer, Michelle Flynn & Elle Shamrock.
We all had a fantastic first week in Reception, getting used to our morning routine and deciding which of our new areas to learn in. Our new topic is ‘Supertato’ and we have enjoyed our roleplay supermarket very much. Well done to our children who are new to the school, who have all settled in superbly! We are looking forward to a lovely year in Reception.
